- How long have you been volunteering for Lucky Dog?
Our family has been fostering for Lucky Dog for about 5 years. After my first dog died, our family was looking for a new dog. We adopted our dog, Tank, from Lucky Dog and since we started fostering we have saved about 50 dogs.
- Why do you volunteer for Lucky Dog's Youth Program?
I volunteer because I'm helping dogs every second 24/7. When one gets adopted I am sad, but I just remember that I helped save a dog's life.
- What is your favorite memory about volunteering for Lucky Dog?
My favorite memory is a puppy we fostered named Cookie. She peed everywhere, and when she would get a bath, she would pee again! We called her the cleanest puppy in the world.
- When did you found the CWES Lucky KIds Club?
About one month ago, my school was voting on causes to help, and animal causes was one of the choices but did not get picked. I thought, "Well why can't my friends and I just try?" So we formed a club, came up with an idea and had a meeting with the principal. That's when everything started to come together.
- What is involved?
We have weekly meetings with the club and meetings with the principal. We create posters to encourage adopting rescue dogs and write down ideas to raise money for Lucky Dog.
- Your club recently hosted a lemonade stand at the CWES Fun Fair. How did that go? What did you learn from that experience?
Our group did really well! We raised about $138 for Lucky Dog. We did have a little difficulty deciding who would do what. I learned that kids CAN make a difference!
