Make it a Dog's Lucky Day -- Foster a Lucky Dog or Cat!
Lucky Dog Fosters are a key part of our rescue and rehome process. Fosters provide temporary housing for Lucky Dogs and Cats while they find their forever homes. The more fosters we have, the more lives we can save! Note, fosters must live in DC, Maryland, or Virginia. We look forward to receiving your foster questionnaire.
We have three types of Fosters:
Overnight & Weekend
Overnight and Weekend Fosters take in a dog off transport, typically a Friday or Saturday night, give them a bath and some basic medication (provided by Lucky Dog), and take them to the Adoption Event that Sunday.
Full Time
Full Time Fosters take in a dog or cat off transport, or from another foster, and provide temporary housing until they are placed in their forever home. This can be as short as a few days, or take several weeks. Our full time fosters typically commit to their foster dog or cat until they find their forever home.
Puppy or Kitten Fosters
Puppy or Kitting Fosters typically foster litters of puppies or kittens that are not yet full vaccinated that need a little more care and attention. Puppy and Kitten Fosters are not responsible for training or housebreaking, just caring for the youngest arrivals until they are adopted. Puppy or Kitten Fosters need to have a flexible schedule and lots of patience!
