RIPTIDE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Riptide Best Guess for Breed: Basset hound mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of February 2024 SEX: Male
Approximate Weight: 25 lbs as of 2/3/24; he probably could stand to lose a couple
Gets Along With: Riptide does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. Because he is shy, we do not recommend a home with children under the age of 12.
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Special adoption considerations: Because Riptide is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. Due to his shy personality, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12.
Riptide is Looking For: A new chapter with his own humans, where he gets to explore the world as a well-loved companion dog! He and his brother Wave were rescued from a hoarding situation. While they did not arrive at the shelter emaciated (Riptide probably could stand to lose a couple of pounds), they certainly haven't seen enough of the world and are, unsurprisingly, shy and scared in new environments right now. They need to split up and go off to their own homes with extra patient and loving adopters who will help show them the world at their pace, and with a welcoming resident dog who will show them how to dog.
This adorable stubby legged cutie wants nothing more than to trot through the world with confidence, by his loving humans. He has a LOT of adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship in him, all ready to bestow upon his humans. How about it - is that the deal you're seeking?
What My Foster Says About Me: Riptide is affectionate and very laid back. if it were up to him, he would sleep in the sun all day. He is gentle and curious. He bonds with people quickly, but he really shows his character when interacting with other pups. In foster care, he is thriving with his new brother. With his brother by his side, riptide is playful and energetic. Therefore, it is recommended that he find a forever home with another dog.
