ARIZONA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:   Arizona       Best Guess for Breed:   Terrier mix

Best Guess for Age:    3 years as of February 2024       SEX:    female

Approximate Weight:    22 lbs.

Gets Along With:   Other dogs. We haven't seen Arizona with cats or kids but she can be tested.

Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter. Arizona needs a foster or forever home in the DC area!

Special adoption considerations: Arizona is a truly Lucky Dog. Although {he/she} has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.

Arizona is Looking For:  Arizona did a great job of raising her babies Almond, Ash, Aspen. and Athens, and they're off to find thier own forever homes! Mama Arizona is now eager to get her own humans to lavish all her love and affection upon. She'll be ready to rock and roll once she has recovered from heartworm treatment. She will be eager to take long walks with her new family, visit the dog park to make new canine friends, and then head home to doze in your lap until it's time for dinner.

There's nothing like watching a rescue dog lay in its first dog bed or wrap their little paws around a toy. Will you be the one to share those moments with Arizona?

What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update once Arizona arrives and spends some time with a foster.
