Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is thrilled to partner with The Greatest International Scavenger Hunt, GISH, to save 1,000 Lucky Dogs and Cats this summer!
Training a kitten to use a litterbox is typically easier than training a puppy to go potty outside. Most kittens who are at least 8 weeks old will already know how to use the litterbox, but some kittens, especially younger ones, may still require some help from you. Doggy daycare isn't just a trendy fad. We're working more hours, and that means less time spent with our dogs. While some dogs are content to sleep the day away, waiting for you to come home, there are many that need a little something extra to do during the day. This Saturday, January 20th, 2018, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and Southwest® delivered more than 14,000 lbs of humanitarian supplies to animal rescuers in Puerto Rico and retured to the DC area with more than 60 dogs and cats who survived Hurricane Maria. This is in addition to the more than 10,500 lbs of supplies the partners have already sent to San Juan via Southwest AirlinesCargo®.
Lucky Dog is proud to be hosting our 9th Annual Wags & Wine Extravaganza again at Barrel Oak Winery in Delaplane, VA on Saturday March 10th, 2018 from 6-9PM.
Did you know you can donate your birthday, or even your Bat-Mitzvah to Lucky Dog? Well that's exactly what Olivia Sitrick did earlier this year. She raised almost $1,500 for Lucky Dogs and Cats in need, which paid to transport our animals from Florence, SC all the way to DC. On the morning of December 6th, the Kate Waller Barrett Elementary School Council Association presented a $725 check to Lucky Dog to help with our ongoing Puerto Rico efforts. **UPDATE: This weekend, Lucky Dog welcomed in 88 animals impacted but Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. At 11 am yesterday, 13 dogs arrived from Texas -- shelter dog survivors of Hurricane Harvey who had no homes before the storm -- and even less chance after the storm. At 2:30, more than 50 dogs came in from Florence, South Carolina. Because their shelter is a state evacuation site, we needed to move dogs out so that dogs impacted by Irma in the southern and coastal parts of the state would have a place to go. 25 evacuation dogs were brought in just after ours moved out.
